Hi there!

If you are on this page, it’s probably because you want to know more about this website or more about me.

About me

What is Interest Upon Interest?

Interest Upon Interest is Compound Interest and it’s the eighth wonder of the world! Why so? Because in Compound Interest the Interest received on the Principal gets added back to the Principal and so the Principal keeps growing with each year and so does the Interest on that Principal. One way to make Compound Interest work for you is to own businesses that can reinvest their profits back into the business to get bigger profits and so on. The idea of Compound Interest was so fascinating that it inspired me to become a value investor.

Simple Interest on the other hand lacks the magic of Compound Interest. The Principal remains the same and you receive the same outcome every year.

I have been a full time investor since Feb 2017 and I have come to realize that Compound Interest works every where. For example: a 4-year old child takes almost an entire year to learn alphabets and some small words. Then it learns small words and small sentences in the next year. A few years later, the child can read small books and by the time it reaches teenage it can read several big books in a year. The time interval is the same, but the output rises exponentially like Compound Interest. Likewise in fine arts, martial arts or computer programming, with constant learning you can do more in each passing year.

This reminds me of an anecdote. A man got a sketch done by an artist by the riverside. When he asked “how much”, the artist replied “$25”. The man was shocked and he said “But it took you just 5 minutes”. To which the artist replied, “25 years and 5 minutes sir”.

About this blog

There is nothing original about me or my blog.

I started blogging seriously in April 2018 to creatively express whatever I am thinking and learning. I have written over 75 blogs and these are usually related to topics in investing, business, finance, marketing, technology and economics. I write about ideas in as simple words as I can. My family reads these blogs and I ask myself how can I write so that they would understand.

Since I started blogging I have received followers organically without I requesting anyone to follow me or to spread the word. I frequently receive emails from some readers and I am happy that my blogs provide some value to them. I am thankful to all my readers for reading whatever I have written and for their kind words of encouragement.

I owe a ton of gratitude to Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Prof. Sanjay Bakshi and my small network of friends, from whom I have learnt to think better. I am expressing their thoughts in my words.

Cheers!
